Associate Electrical Engineer (Intern / Co-op)
Los Angeles, CA
Mesh Optical Technologies was founded on the belief that photons will unlock the next evolution of human technology. Today, we're putting that vision into practice by developing the world's most advanced optical computing hardware.
We believe in engineering to the limit of physics, building our own factories, and writing software that maximizes the capability of our hardware.
As an associate electrical engineer, you will be embedded in our engineering team and own real aspects of the design of both our optical interconnect product and factory.
What you'll do
- Schematic capture and multilayer PCB layout in Altium for test boards, power modules, control electronics, and even aspects of our optical interconnect device itself.
- Bring-up and operate hardware in the lab—oscilloscope, VNA, logic analyzer—and document results of various tests as we validate our optical interconnect prototoypes and production process.
- Work hands-on and alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers as we work to develop one of the highest volume optical manufacturing facilities in North America.
Basic Qualifications
- Pursuing or recently completed a BS or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering (or related) with a GPA of 3.5 or greater.
- Portfolio of hands-on projects—Formula SAE, SolarCar, Robotics, CubeSats, or other club/personal builds.
- Familiarity with basic signal-integrity concepts and solder-rework skills.
- Strong analytical mindset, first-principles problem solving, and clear communication.
Preferred Qualifications
- Your projects demonstrate not just electrical engineering aptitude but also multidisciplinary knowledge of mechanical engineering and software engineering concepts.
Compensation and benefits
- Competitive cash salary paid hourly.
- Housing assistance in sunny Los Angeles for the full term of your internship or co-op.
